E-charging station design
Modularly expandable, can be installed in series, flexibly marketable
« The German government has pledged to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Germany by 65% overall by 2030 compared to 1990. In order to achieve these targets, road traffic must be ‘electrified’ quickly. This requires a nationwide, needs-based and user-friendly charging infrastructure. »
National charging infrastructure control center
Problem: According to the latest estimates (Statista), the number of e-cars will grow to almost 3.5 million vehicles in 2025. On the other hand, public charging points are being installed too slowly. As of March 1, 2024, the charging point register only contained 103,226 normal charging points and 25,291 fast charging points. The politically desired expansion of the charging infrastructure urgently needs new ideas.
Task: To design an electric charging station that can be set up quickly and expanded modularly. The prototype is to be produced in series and flexibly adaptable for areas between 500 m² and 2,500 m². In addition to cost advantages (economy of scale), the aim of the modularity is short construction time and nationwide roll-out at all conceivable locations (rural or urban, highway or main road, one behind the other or next to each other, etc.).
Solution: We have developed a modular kit for a charging station system. The system is effortlessly a) flexible and b) individually modifiable and c) scalable in small steps as required. We achieve these advantages through the structural components, which can also include utility rooms and landscape elements. This makes the system open to all market requirements and structural conditions.
The roofing increases the quality, comfort and sustainability of the offer, but also contributes to its own amortization. It is constructed according to the principle of a puzzle and is therefore particularly easy to erect, whereby all materials can be reused or resold later as secondary raw materials for upcycling or recycling processes.
The design also provides for over 95% renewable or recyclable materials and the use of roof surfaces for rainwater harvesting and solar modules. The water retention areas and transparent solar cells make the roofs a perfect symbiosis of design, technology and economic thinking.
Marketability: Thanks to the high degree of adaptability, all operator models can be implemented with the same design. Charging point chains from regional electricity suppliers, « McLoad » franchises, small local companies or local authority providers who are promoting the switch to e-mobility and need to set up charging points for e-buses are all conceivable.
Vision: Our charging stations are particularly popular locations that are preferred by e-car owners. The atmosphere is characterized by peace and relaxation. Nothing is reminiscent of conventional petrol stations. The vehicles arriving and departing roll back into the traffic almost silently. The drivers enjoy the charging break. They use the associated store and the W-LAN to quickly do a few things on their laptop if necessary. Because our concept also provides for this: Enclosed spaces can easily be provided under the wooden roofing modules (store, café seating, toilets or even micro motel rooms). Close to urban parks or shopping streets, customers can also take a relaxing stroll or run errands in nearby shops.
